THE CITY OF "PALIO"

At 130 kilometres from Pontedera there is a medieval city called Siena. The main event is Palio of Siena, a horse race that is held twice each year, on July 2 and August 16.There are 17 districts: Aquila (eagle), Selva (forest), Valdimontone (valley of the ram), Bruco (caterpillar), Chiocciola (snail), Giraffa (giraffe), Onda (wave), Lupa (she-wolf), Torre (tower), Leocorno (Unicorn), Civetta (little-owl), Drago (dragon), Istrice (crested porcupine),  Oca (goose), Nicchio (seashell),  Tartuca (tortoise), Pantera (panther). In each race run only 10 districts and the other 7 run of law in the next race. The Palio is played in a beautyfull square : “Piazza del Campo”. The particularity of this square is its concave shape that allows the entire square to see the race.

Welcome to Pisa!

Pisa is a city in Tuscany, it's very popular with many tourists from around the world, the main attraction of the city is the Leaning Tower. The tower can be visited inside and climb to the top. Many tourists enjoy taking pictures effect with it. Under the tower is the main square of Pisa, ''Piazza del Duomo'' renamed the square of miracles. In this square is located the cathedral. In Pisa there is an airport, that is the most important of all Tuscany. The education has many locations in Pisa in fact there are three major universities of Italy even in europe,'' is the University of Pisa, the Higher Normal School and the Sant'Anna School. For us go to Pisa is very easy, it takes a quarter. We like going to Pisa's main road. There are many pretty shops.

FLORENCE! :)

Florence is the chief town of Tuscany. It is one of the most beautiful city in the world and certainly when you will be here to visit.
In Florence there are many monuments and museums including the Duomo, the Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Pitti and the Boboli Gardens.

Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore is the cathedral of Florence, overlooking the square and was built by Giotto and inside there are many paintings of important people.

Uffizi Gallery is a important Italian museum, preserves works of art derived from the collection of the family of Medici and other families.







Ponte Vecchio is one of the symbols of the city of Florence and one of the most famous bridges in the world. It cross the river Arno in his narrower point and it was the first bridge built over it.






Piazza della Signoria is the central square of Florence and it is the seat of power and civic heart of the city's social life. 

Palazzo Pitti is the palace of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany and it was inhabited by Medici, by Lorena and by Savoia. Inside, there are many museums.







Boboli Gardens is a historical park in the city of Florence. He was born as the garden of the Palazzo Pitti. The garden is one of the most important examples of Italian gardens and it is an outdoor museum.

The city in Toscany: Lucca

Lucca was founded by the Etruscans (there are traces of a pre-existing Ligurian settlement) and became a Roman colony in 180 BC. The rectangular grid of its historical centre preserves the Roman street plan, and the Piazza San Michele occupies the site of the ancient forum. Traces of the amphitheatre can still be seen in the Piazza dell'Anfiteatro.

At the Lucca Conference, in 56 BC, Julius Caesar, Pompey, and Crassus reaffirmed their political alliance known as the First Triumvirate.

Frediano, an Irish monk, was bishop of Lucca in the early 6th century. At one point, Lucca was plundered by Odoacer, the first Germanic King of Italy. Lucca was an important city and fortress even in the 6th century, when Narses besieged it for several months in 553. Under the Lombards, it was the seat of a duke who minted his own coins. The Holy Face of Lucca (or Volto Santo), a major relic supposedly carved by Nicodemus, arrived in 742. During the 8th - 10th centuries it was a center of Jewish life, led by the Kalonymos family (who at some point during this period migrated to Germany and became a major component of proto-Ashkenazic Jewry). It became prosperous through the silk trade that began in the 11th century, and came to rival the silks of Byzantium. During the 10–11th centuries Lucca was the capital of the feudal margraviate of Tuscany, more or less independent but owing nominal allegiance to the Holy Roman Emperor.

MAIN ROAD OF PONTEDERA

Pontedera is an Italian town in the province of Pisa. The city is bordered by the Plain of Pisa in the west, the plain of Lucca in north-west, north-east Cerbaie and Valdera south. The climate is sub-humid summers of the Mediterranean type. The area of ​​the municipality of Pontedera has been inhabited since the Palaeolithic. AlphaAlso at the heart of Pontedera there is a beautiful course with many benches, bars where you can make a small snack but also great pizzerias where you can eat really well!. The course is quite long and full of shops including my favorites are "Kiko" (make-up), "Tally Weijl" (for clothes) and "Follie" (sells for clothes and the jewelry). It 's really interesting, of course, for those who love these things.
